Went to my New Years party at the hotel. After sleeping most of the day, I brought the pup over to my neighbor so she and her little boy could dog-sit for the night. (Compensated with one bottle of wine and 2 dollars for her son - apparently the going rate for dog sitting according to the 4 year old) Headed down and joined my friends for dinner. I didn't eat - I haven't been eating too many solids with this cold right now - but I did have the end of one's margarita. That was all the alcohol for me for the night. I was good. Thought with being sick, it probably wouldn't be the best idea to be drunk as well. Although I did have a lot of advice pertaining to alcohol kills germs. ;)
So someone I went to high school with and haven't seen since joined us for the evening. OMG, biggest mistake ever asking him to come. He got extremely drunk which caused him to spill all the issues he is having in his life, which apparently consist of, but are not limited to, he has been arrested for domestic violence, he has cheated on his wife, and a lot of other stuff I plan to forget immediately. And this guy kept going on and on and ON about it to my friends. And strangers. And eventually some of the women he was talking to finally just got up and left. He was going around telling everyone how intelligent they were, what a kind heart they have and what good people they are. It was like watching Uber Christian on steroids. Finally told him to keep your Drama for your Mama and when the night was over, we had a chat about opening up just a little too much.
So the hotel party was decent. No big whoop, but really, I wasn't completely in the mood because of being so sick. Everyone was complaigning how hot they were on the dance floor and there I am in my coat and sweater freezing. So after some dancing, taking a bunch of pictures, a few drinks (water), I headed back to the room before eleven. Sat on the heat register since I was so cold. (Yes, it gets cold in Arizona, Virginia) for probably a half hour and then crawled into bed. At 11, in comes Danny and Tabby because Danny was beyond wasted. Slowly the others filtered in as the New Year became a reality.
I didn't even know when the "ball dropped" or maybe it's the Tostito Chip fell still (Used to be a thing here, locally). I didn't experience the confetti, nor the champagne. There were no horns blaring in my ears, kisses on my lips or hugs from everyone. But that's alright. I had a good New Year over all and enjoyed being with good friends.
On a side note, last night is my anniversary of spending my first full night in my current condo. It's when I became fully dependant on only myself. I had paid off all my bills (not yet divorced though), completed college with my Bachelors in Liberal Arts and established myself as a much more confident person. So... Way to go me!! =)

I guess that the guy did you a service.
He showed you that he was a pathetic loosed, and your life is a lot better.
